Baker & McKenzie is reporting that Olyana Gordiyenko, Partner in the firm’s Kyiv office, has been appointed the fifth member of the National Commission on Securities and the Stock Market of Ukraine by Order of the President of Ukraine.  

Gordiyenko joined Baker & McKenzie in 2001 and became a Partner in the firm’s corporate practice group in 2013. According to Baker & McKenzie, "in recent years Mrs. Gordiyenko has been actively involved in various legal reforms alongside Ukrainian state authorities, including the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade [and] the Ministry of Infrastructure and the State Property Fund, as well as international financial institutions, such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, USAID, IFC, etc."

In her new position, Gordiyenko will be responsible for Corporate Governance and Corporate Finance, with key objectives to upgrade the corporate governance for joint-stock companies in line with best practices and OECD guidelines, to enhance the standards of disclosure of information by issuers of securities and increase the overall level of transparency of the Ukrainian stock market.
