CMS has advised the European Investment Bank on a EUR 300 million loan agreement with Naftogaz Group, aimed at strengthening Ukraine's energy security. Aequo advised Naftogaz.

According to CMS, the financing will be used to procure natural gas, build long-term strategic reserves, and ensure stable winter energy supplies for households and businesses across the country. The loan was extended under the EIB's Ukraine Energy Rescue Plan and is backed by an EU guarantee provided through the Ukraine Investment Framework. In parallel with the financing, Naftogaz has committed to reinvesting an amount equivalent to the loan into renewable energy and decarbonization projects.

The CMS team included Partner Ihor Olekhov, Counsel Kateryna Chechulina, Senior Associate Iryna Barlit, Lawyer Ruslan Dotsenko, and Paralegal Liudmyla Stryzhak.

The Aequo team included Executive Partner Yulia Kyrpa, Counsel Oleg Krainskyi, and Associate Dmytro Shudrenko.
