Filip & Company has advised Banca Transilvania on its synthetic securitization deal with the European Investment Bank and the European Investment Fund. White & Case advised EIB and EIF.

According to Filip & Company, "the implementation of this initiative, the first capital relief transaction between Banca Transilvania and the European Investment Bank Group entities, will increase access to finance for SMEs and mid-cap companies meeting certain eligibility criteria, by freeing up capital allocated to a portfolio of assets with a total balance of over RON 2 billion."

Earlier in 2024, Filip & Company advised Banca Transilvania Group on its acquisition of BRD Pensions (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on June 3, 2024), as well as on its acquisition of OTP Bank Romania and its subsidiaries (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on February 21, 2024). In 2023, the firm advised BT on its new EUR 1.5 billion bond program and EUR 500 million sustainable bond issuance (as reported on December 15, 2023) as well as on its two earlier issuances that same year, under its earlier EUR 1 billion bond program: a EUR 500 million bond issuance in April (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on May 3, 2023) and a EUR 200 million bond issuance in July (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on July 21, 2023).

The Filip & Company team included Partner Alexandru Birsan and Senior Associate Camelia Iantuc.

The White & Case team included lawyers in London, Frankfurt, and Luxembourg.
